Membership Types

 

Members

Associates, who must fulfil the basic criteria of membership, which is possession of a degree from an approved University or an equivalent tertiary qualification.

Members, who must fulfil the basic membership criteria, have at least three years experience in clinical biochemistry and be admitted as Members by Council on the recommendation of, and after examination by, the Board of Examiners. Members are entitled to place the letters MAACB after their name.

Fellows, who must fulfil the basic membership criteria and have at least ten years experience in clinical biochemistry and be admitted as Fellows by Council on the recommendation of, and after examination by, the Board of Examiners. Fellows are entitled to place the letters FAACB after their name.

Life Fellows, who are elected by the Association at a General Meeting and are members who have retired from the full-time practice of clinical biochemistry and have served the Association with distinction.

Honorary Fellows, who are elected by the Association at a General Meeting and are persons who have never been members of the Association but have served the Association with distinction.

Corporate Members, who are companies or persons who have accepted an invitation by Council to join. Corporate members may nominate representatives, who will be entitled to membership privileges except they are not entitled to hold office, to nominate others for office or to vote.

 

Affiliates and Student Affiliates

Are entitled to all privileges except voting rights, admission to office and application for higher qualifications.

Affiliates are non-graduates who are interested and working in the profession of clinical biochemistry.

Student Affiliates must be enrolled for full-time study for an undergraduate degree in Science or Applied Science at an approved University and have an interest in clinical biochemistry.
